Skin our HeartsWe still
have much
to learn.
In youth,
we run
and jump,
skin our knees,
try not
to cry,
take courage,
be brave.
As adults,
still feel pain -
pain of longing,
anguish
of the spirit,
unprepared -
we are
no better

our hearts
and stumble...
What have
we learned
for years
in this grim,
thankless world?
Reaching out
for that love
which will
not be returned?

What have
we learned?

Gentle GiftNature is
a gentle gift,
given to those
who least deserve
the honor.
We ramble
and ravage
and expect
all to remain
virgin
in our sight.

This is what
I meant to say:
sounds, visions,
colors to combine-
in all,
be all -
we take each
and use it
in our art,
in our poetry
and make music!

Perhaps, we
protect
its honor -
a moment's time
in the still woods,
in our forest home
even in
our smoky, backward
cities.

What I meant
to say:
we are meant,
we were chosen
to be champions.

Devil BirdNew England prejudice,
new world dawning,
has driven
the ravishing raven
further north
to hide and seek
caverns
and green lush
forests
so deep that you
can not discern
his call.
Rarely seen
but certainly felt
on the farms
and in the town.
Gun shots, poison traps
steal his freedom.
It is their world now...

Legends grow.
Green things die.
Crops will fail.
Ravens fly.

Silent ForestMy music
brought me here
to the silent forest.
Cardboard trees
and green smudges
of water lilies -
white flowers
on construction paper.
Only a recording
of the earth cycle -
a shadow, a cypher -
not real.
I miss the rustle
of the wind
in the brown cat-tails,
the fall to ground
of an autumn leaf,
the crinkle under my feet,
the baying of my hound
at the water fowl...
She is mute.
I am mute.
Crepe swans float by
dismally
on a still water channel-
on this the last day
of the world.
I have my music
to ease the pain,
the only accompaniement
to the end.

GoneWhat are we
in the grand scheme
of things?
We are tears.
We are tiny
sparkling droplets,
dissolving in an ocean
of desperation.
We scramble,
we sink.
We are no more.

What are we
really?
There is no love.
There is falsity.
We are tiny grains
of sand
to make a whole
languishing shore.
Immortality
is a lie.
We are washed out,
washed up,
pushed out to sea.
We are sad,
not immortal -
dead, blackened stars,
reflected in
a burnt out sun -
so tiny, so desolate,
true and false,
true and false
and gone.

The WayThe lights used to blind him.
He used to joke with his professors
that Miami couldn't have been much hotter.
But they never joked back -
they were already blinded.

And somewhere along the road
(he had lost track of just where)
he had lost his freedom.
(not really lost it for he knew
where it was)...
Nothing made sense.
He skipped between the inky black lines
of print, ever wondering.

People used to talk straight to him -
but no more - more "abouts" these years
than he had ever imagined would happen.
And it was the tone of their voices
that worried him. The scavangers!
Their questions, his replies -
It just didn't make sens

Eventually it does. It's all part of a large water way that goes through a great portion of the state.

It actually flows into two other smaller rivers on the way to the Long Island Sound.

Some must fload in occasions I believe, some streams that seem little at times, can be dangerous with continuous rains. Did you experience any floads?

There's always minute flooding after a heavy rain but during the hurricane, the shoreline flooded very badly. Together with the high winds, Seaside Park in my city was an absolute mess and everyone in that area (including the university students) were evacuated. The neighboring town of Stratford lost much of its marina and fishing docks. The vacation homes and restaurants are still undergoing repairs.

the Hurricane was an extreme weather situation, unfortunately we can expect damages from them, I've questioned you, because I thought that stream wasn't so small and I wonder.
I have friends back in Australia, they say little streams can turn just in a couple of minutes in a angry and powerful river when it starts to rain.
I watch the river never me, sometimes
and wonder too... seems like a
sleeping dragon waiting to awake.

Just small floods on a regular basis at least in the park area but the water can go pretty fast after the rainfall. Hard to wade across on those days.
