There's always minute flooding after a heavy rain but during the hurricane, the shoreline flooded very badly. Together with the high winds, Seaside Park in my city was an absolute mess and everyone in that area (including the university students) were evacuated. The neighboring town of Stratford lost much of its marina and fishing docks. The vacation homes and restaurants are still undergoing repairs.
the Hurricane was an extreme weather situation, unfortunately we can expect damages from them, I've questioned you, because I thought that stream wasn't so small and I wonder. I have friends back in Australia, they say little streams can turn just in a couple of minutes in a angry and powerful river when it starts to rain. I watch the river never me, sometimes and wonder too... seems like a sleeping dragon waiting to awake.
