Last Road Trip

For hours
which felt
so long
as days,
we drove
through the
land of
old cathedrals.
We didn't
speak
nor look
at each other.
Didn't care
any longer
than we
had to
and that
was,sadly,
not long.
We left
our love
at the
last stop,
last station,
last attraction
was no
attraction.
We're weary.
We're lost.
No map
for the way
we feel.
For hours...
Must return
for one
last night...

Why so gloomy? Love of mine...
The sun will set.
The stars will shine.
No use to speak of death and doom
beneath this pale, seductive moon.
